Nobody Said It Would Be Easy
What truly separates good from great is difficulty. Calling that prospect, firing that employee, and writing that blog are all difficult tasks. However, difficult does not necessarily mean complex. It’s not complex to say, “You’re fired” or to write that first blog post. It’s just hard. That’s why no one else does it.
That’s great news for the person that’s willing to step out and say, “I’ll try. I’ll risk failure, and ridicule and embarrassment.” Those things usually happen anyway if you don’t try, except they’re internalized and originate within yourself. Might as well get them out of the way while you still have a chance to do something great.
